EMDR Therapy
When Your Past Still Feels Present
Trauma doesn’t always arrive in one loud moment.
Sometimes it builds quietly, through grief, through years of stress, through caregiving that never lets up, through relationships that hurt you in ways you never got to say out loud.
Then something small happens on an ordinary Tuesday.
Your body reacts like the old thing is happening all over again.
You look like you’re managing on the outside while the inside feels overwhelmed, numb, or braced for the next hit.
Why Your Mind Keeps Replaying It
Your brain files most experiences away and lets you move on.
When an experience overwhelms it, that filing never finishes.
The memory stays open on the desk, still raw, still able to ambush you years later.
That’s the reason understanding what happened and telling yourself to move forward haven’t settled it.
The problem was never your willpower.
Where EMDR Reaches in Your Life
EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain finish processing what it couldn’t finish at the time.
It’s best known for trauma and PTSD.
It also reaches the distress underneath grief and loss, anxiety and overwhelm, and life changes that knocked your footing out from under you.
If the same triggers keep firing, or one hard season keeps coloring everything since, this is the work that goes after the root of it.
Walk Through an EMDR Session Before You Book One
We start slow, well before we touch anything painful.
You’ll build grounding skills and inner resources first, so you have somewhere solid to stand.
When you’re ready, you’ll hold a piece of a distressing memory in mind while we use bilateral stimulation.
That’s gentle eye movements or another rhythmic input.
It occupies your brain while the filing finally finishes.
We work in small, contained doses.
We stop whenever you need to.
You’ll never be asked to relive your worst day or narrate every detail of it.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed.
Your pace, your choices, and your safety set the terms.
How Your Days Change as the Memories Settle
Old reactions start to soften before you notice you’re less braced.
The memories stay yours.
They stop carrying the same charge.
You’re more at home in your own body.
Survival mode loses its grip faster.
Ordinary days take less out of you.
You start trusting your own read on things again.
Healing here means the past stops setting the terms for your present.
Start EMDR When You’re Ready
You don’t have to have the words sorted out before you reach out.
Email or text me, and we’ll set up a free 20-minute phone consultation.
It’s a relaxed conversation about what’s been hard, how EMDR would work for you, and whether we’re a good fit.
I’d be honored to walk this next stretch alongside you.
Your North Is Still There
You don't have to keep finding your way by yourself.
There’s a version of these ordinary days where the photo brings a smile, the argument doesn’t spiral, and your own needs make the list. I’ve helped people rediscover their direction and start building a life they want to live in, and I can do the same with you.
Getting started is simple: email or text me, and we’ll set up a free phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. From there, we’ll start finding your north together.
